Free VSDX viewer: open Visio files online

Open Microsoft Visio drawings (.vsdx and older .vsd) right here, without Visio. See every page, search the text, and export to PDF, PNG or SVG. Your browser reads the file; it is never uploaded.

.vsdx, .vsdm, .vstx and .vsd · No sign-up · No file-size cap · Works on Mac, Windows, Linux and Chromebook

How to open a VSDX file

  1. Step 1

    Open the file

Drop a .vsdx or .vsd file on the viewer, or click Choose a file. No account, no upload.

  2. Step 2

    Read every page

Pages appear as tabs at the bottom. Zoom, pan, and search the text of the whole drawing.

  3. Step 3

    Export or edit

Save a page as PNG or SVG, print all pages or save them as one PDF, or open the drawing in an editor.

Convert VSDX to PDF, PNG or SVG

Click Export in the viewer. PDF prepares every page of the drawing, one per sheet, each in its own orientation: choose Save as PDF in the print dialog. PNG saves the current page as a high-resolution image, and SVG as a vector image that stays sharp at any size, with the fonts embedded.

Open Visio files on a Mac or Chromebook

The Visio desktop app runs only on Windows. This viewer runs in the browser on Mac, Windows, Linux and ChromeOS, so you can read a drawing a colleague sent you without installing anything or signing in to Microsoft 365.

Your file stays on your computer

Most online Visio viewers upload your file to their server to convert it. This one does the work in your browser: the drawing is never sent to sketch2scheme.com or anyone else. Network diagrams, floor plans and org charts often contain things you would rather not upload.

Older .vsd files work too

Binary .vsd drawings from older Visio versions are converted in the browser and shown just like .vsdx files, with all their pages. Text search and every export work the same way.

Need to change the drawing?

In the viewer, Edit › Open in diagrams.net opens the drawing in a free online editor, and Download .drawio saves it for draw.io desktop or VS Code.

Starting from a sketch or a whiteboard photo instead? Sketch2scheme turns a picture of a hand-drawn diagram into an editable draw.io diagram.

Questions

Is this VSDX viewer free?

Yes. Opening, searching, printing and exporting Visio files is free, with no sign-up and no file-size cap.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Your browser reads the file and draws it on this page. The drawing is not sent to sketch2scheme.com or anywhere else, and the viewer keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.

Can I open a VSDX file without Visio?

Yes. Drop the .vsdx file on the viewer above, or choose it with the Open button. You do not need Visio, a Microsoft account or a Microsoft 365 subscription.

How do I convert VSDX to PDF?

Open the file, click Export and choose PDF. Every page is prepared for printing, one page per sheet; choose "Save as PDF" as the printer. For a single page as an image, choose PNG or SVG.

Does it open old .vsd files?

Yes. Binary .vsd and .vst files from older Visio versions are converted in your browser and shown like .vsdx files. Visio 2003-2010 XML drawings (.vdx) and stencil files (.vssx) are not supported yet.

Does it work on a Mac or a Chromebook?

Yes. It runs in the browser on Mac, Windows, Linux and ChromeOS (we test it in Chrome). The Visio desktop app is Windows-only, so this is a simple way to read Visio drawings on a Mac.

Can I edit the drawing?

The viewer is read-only, but Edit > Open in diagrams.net opens the drawing in a free online editor (the drawing travels inside the link), and Download .drawio saves a file for draw.io desktop or VS Code.
